Ecology
Learn.
Observe.
Grow.

There is much to learn by paying attention to the living world.
Learn.
Curiosity and conversation give us ways to explore how living systems work, how they respond to change, and how we participate in them.
That can mean learning about native plants and ecological function, but also habitat, food, history, relationships, stewardship, and the many ways people interact with place.
Around here, knowing more doesn't mean we're finished learning. In fact, it usually means we are opening a whole new set of questions.
Observe.
There is always something happening. Whether or not we notice depends on our attention.
At Couch2Canopy, we watch what thrives, what struggles, what appears on its own, and what changes when the conditions around it change. We notice relationships among plants, wildlife, people, weather, soil, water, seasons, and the places we share.
Sometimes we observe what happens when we intervene. Sometimes the question is: What happens when we don't?
Grow.
Around Couch2Canopy, we grow a little bit of everything.
Native plants and habitat gardens. Flowers for cutting and sharing. Food. Plants we're propagating. Plants we're trying to understand. Grassroots horticultural experiments. Plants to keep us sane through the long 5b winters.
Growing connects us to place and the concept of life in a particularly tangible way. It gives us something to tend, participate in, and—sometimes—simply enjoy.
